Prof. Dr. David Velázquez Martínez

David Velázquez is Assistant Professor of Biology at Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), Spain. He runs several research projects to investigate the diversity of terrestrial ecosystems in Antarctica and the Arctic. He is co-author in more than 30 peer-reviewed publications.

David Velázquez is a Visiting Fellow at CAS in July and August 2024 at the invitation of CAS Young Center member Dr Gonzalo Gomez Saez. Together, Gomez Saez and Velázquez will analyse samples collected during previous expeditions to Antarctica in the Geomicrobiology Laboratory. Both are working to better understand the effects of global warming on the adaptation of microbial communities in the Antarctic.
